DEPARTMENTS
The Bureau of Exploration is an endless labyrinth of departments, subcommittees, and task forces so complex it is unfathomable to even our most senior staff members. This confusion keeps worsening because the Bureau metastasizes constantly, with ever-more departments being formed, expanded, or rediscovered in old paperwork.
Rising like rocks from a tumultuous sea, there are a few major departments. However, most of the Bureau exists on the periphery, in small offices and field outposts which lapse in and out of our knowledge. A window into both is noted below.
MAJOR DEPARTMENTS
Some of the most notable departments, based on number of personnel and gross annual metric paperwork tonnage.
- Department of Infra-Metropolitan Cartography
- Department of Non-Euclidian Architectures
- Tunnel Reconnaissance and Redevelopment Corps
- Administration on Publicly-Owned Mines, Caves, and Netherworlds
- Alpine Expeditionary League
- Institute of Esoteric Physics
For the Breakaway Departments no longer considered part of the Bureau by Headquarters, please refer to Minkowskinoff’s Almanac of Astral Agencies (1972), Chp. 19.
